Follow one moment around the worldWhy can it be today in one place and tomorrow in another?

Imagine calling a friend on the other side of the world. It might be afternoon for you, but already the next morning for them. You are talking at the same moment; your clocks show different dates and times.

For example, 2:00 PM in London on 15 January 2026 is 1:00 AM in Sydney on 16 January. Sydney is 11 hours ahead on that date.

Offsets depend on the date: some places move their clocks forward or back during the year. That is why this converter asks for a date as well as a time.

How to convert time between cities

Start with a date, a local time and the city where that time applies. The converter resolves one moment and shows its local date and time in your target places. Include the date because daylight-saving rules can change the offset.

    How to use this calculator

    1. Set the starting date, starting time and starting city. Use current time and location for your browser’s current zone.
    2. Open Choose target places, search by country or city, and add the specific places you want to compare.
    3. Show target date & time. Read each target date as well as its clock, then move the globe or comparison slider to explore nearby moments.

    Worked examples

A London afternoon becomes tomorrow in Sydney

    Start with
Start: 15 January 2026, 14:00 in London. Targets: New York and Sydney.
    Result
09:00 in New York on 15 January; 01:00 in Sydney on 16 January.

These clocks all show the same instant. The Sydney result has crossed midnight, so its date is the next day. Reading only the hour would miss that important difference.

The London–New York gap changes in March

    Start with
Start: 20 March 2026, 14:00 in London. Target: New York.
    Result
    10:00 in New York, UTC-04:00.

On this date New York has changed to daylight time and London has not yet changed. The gap is four hours, compared with five hours in the January example. Use named cities and the actual date instead of assuming a fixed offset.

    Common questions

Should I select EST, EDT or New York?

Choose the named city or time zone. The converter uses the selected date to resolve its offset and shows available daylight-saving details. EST is UTC−05:00; EDT is UTC−04:00.

Why can a local time be missing or appear twice?

Moving clocks forward can skip a local hour; moving them back can repeat one. A missing time must be changed. For a repeated time, choose the earlier or later occurrence to identify the intended instant.

Does changing a date format change the time zone?

No. Formatting changes how a date or time is written. Time-zone conversion shows a particular instant on another place’s clock and can change both the local time and local date.
